New Baby (IF and IMT)

I have done this painting for both Illustration Friday (Baby) and Inspire Me Thursday (Orange and Purple).

My colleague from work has just had a baby boy, and it makes me think of new growth, hopes, pride and aspirations.

Congratulations Jaimie.

'Sock' it to me.

Now that Steve is living at home with us again, washing (socks) day is a nightmare. Yesterday we sorted them out into two piles, his and his! Guess which are Dad's?

Now guess who loooveeees socks!
So I put her on the bed and fetched my camera!
Let the fun begin!!!!!!!

Oh-Oh, guess who's just walked in the door?

Caught red-handed....

"Ooops".

"Oh well, that was such fun while it lasted!

Half Term Week

Throwing and catching bean bags, bread and butter.
Playdough (flowers and parents in bed)
Garden reading corner
Building blocks outside, music corner, using instruments.
Painting flowers and drawing tadpoles.

It's half term week (again)and a chance to reflect, rest and relax.

Although a busy 6 weeks, and an eventful one emotionally, I have reached the midterm break with a good feeling inside.

At the age of 60 I have taken on a huge new challenge, with 52 little ones (almost 4) in my room.
We have painted, designed, built, watched, planted, played, splashed, erected, viewed, drawn, sung, examined, developed, shared, talked and laughed.

I am proud of myself, I feel satisfied and complete, as it is a warm happy friendly environment with lots of still happier times to come.

Lotsa warm fuzzies for you FY and Hilary too.

Whimsy (Inspire me Thursday)

This was the first cross stitch piece I ever did (years and years ago).
It represents 'whimsy' to me.

Giggles #104

This is a 'giggle' with a message today, inspired by Studiololo's entry for 'worry'.
Please read it and be kind to your pets.....they love you no matter how you treat them!
Thanks Lolo...and wfs to you.

Worry (IF)

I daubed acrylic paints on paper with my fingers and then 'raked' it with a hairbrush.
I wanted it to look like a page of worried thoughts...but I can now see a little man on the right hand side...maybe he's doing the worrying.
I like the result a lot....

Remember:
'If you worry you die,
If you don't worry you still die -
So, why worry?'

Crayon Art (Inspire me Thursday)

The challenge for 'Inspire me Thursday' this week is Crayon Art.

This is my first entry and I decided to do a wax crayon resist, called 'scream'!

It fits in well with IF's topic this week....'wide'.....so will add it there too.

"Men are just happier people.
Wedding plans take care of themselves!
Chocolate is just another snack!
They can never be pregnant!
They can wear a T shirt to a water park!
They can wear no shirt to a water park!
Their underwear is only 8.99 a pack!
They only have to shave their face and neck!
They play with toys all their lives!
Men are just happier people!
Sigh!"

Kid's Art ('My Family')

She is the first one with a crown on her head, standing with her cousin. Look how elaborate this is, compared to the simplicity/naivity of the next one. (Dad, mum and the three kids).

This little girl laboriously wrote all the names of the people in her family (she is Somalian) and 'read' exactly what she had written to me! Mum is the tall one with the pony tails, then her, then dad in green!

When asked what that big brown thing was on the right side of this picture, I was told 'It's a machine.'

Their art is amazingly refreshing and so unadorned. I have the pleasure of watching them creating each piece and talking to them about it. Remember these kids are only 3/4, nearer 4 now....

One little girl walked into Nursery on Thursday and exclaimed, "The traffic was horrendous!" She is an only child who obviously spends lots of time with adults! We had to hide our 'giggles'.

Exhaustion aside, I do love the wonder of these kids...we can learn so much from them in every way!

Our Week

Our busy week in the Nursery.

Planting beans and cress seeds; music lesson; making bread and butter; sunshine on the field; shoes off; playing in the water; building a boat with blocks.

Totally satisfying, exciting and lots of fun.

Man oh man - I need to sleep for a week!

Friendship

Human Being wrote:
Do you like another challenge? In the comments section of Leaving Leaves you find some words I chose from your comments... write something with them... poetry or prose... just try to use as many of them as you can...If you are interested... write it on your blog and let me know to put your link here...

The word she gave me was 'beneath' and this is what I wrote:

Beneath
What is friendship?
What lies beneath?
Is it as frail as it seems?
Just a puff of smoke.....

After a very tough week at work, with lots of conflict all around me...and having to choose between popularity or professionalism (guess which one I'd choose every time?)....I find myself in the odd position of maybe losing what I thought was a good friendship as well....
Such is life....reminds me that we come into this world alone and we leave it alone....and in between...well, I guess we are alone too!
I painted this months ago and love it. Seems just right for this post....two friends, together yet apart.
(No comments necessary.)

Animal Wednesday/Thursday

I painted this last weekend, and don't like the outcome at all.

But am having a really tough week, so am posting it anyway (late).

I like watching the squirrels in the nearby park.
This man was sitting there last week, feeding them and fascinated by their antics.
