Suki's Suggestion

Last Sunday Suki wrote a very interestig post and a suggestion:

Take a family photo and study it. "What do you see in it that is...similar to your life today, to the person you've become? What is vaguely similar? What bears no resemblance or suggests nothing memorable? What ended up the opposite of what you see? " The idea is to look at the photo of your young self and connect with it in terms of who you are today.

I had recently posted a few photos of my brother and I when we were young, showing our close relationship; here is a family one for 'Suki's Suggestion'.

In every photo I have of myself I am always with my dad. My mother never held me or cuddled me or told me she loved me. She has been dead for 27 years and I do not miss her. My dad died the year after her and was sadly missed.

I have had to be my own 'mother' all my life and also have spent a great deal of time 'mothering' others.

What ended up the opposite is that my sons and I are very close and they know I love them unconditionally.

But sometimes, just sometimes, I wish someone would 'mother me'!

Thanks Suki, this gave me lots to think about!

Poor little girl

Came home from work today to find a very miserable little pooch. She was fine when we left.
So we took her to the vet, who is a jolly old fella, adores dogs and talks to them like they're his kids.
She has an abscess beside her anus, as the anal gland has got blocked and infected.
She is in agony and yelped every time we/he came near her. Each time she did, my heart broke.
He gave her an anti-inflammatory/antibiotic injection and pain killers/ anti-inflammatories for the next 3 days till we see him again.
Here she is looking so sad and woebegone after we returned from the vet.
However, she seems far more comfortable and is asleep now.
Poor little Snuffles, poor little girl..
Our pets are like our family....no, they ARE our family.

MY QUILT IS HERE

I AM SO EXCITED - MY QUILT ARRIVED TODAY. IT IS TOTALLY LOVELY, TOTALLY ARTISTIC, TOTALLY ME!

I ADORE IT AND I ADORE YOU.

This is the box it came in. What a beautiful choice Lynn.

I looked inside and this is what I saw inside the box.

It was wrapped like a real birthday present with a cute card attached.

By now my heart was thumping.

I was NEVER in any doubt that I would like it. There was an immediate connection between Lynn and I when i commissioned it, and I left it totally up to her to design it her way. I mentioned and sent some ideas about the pictures on my blog that I would've liked included, and she also read my entire blog and also the other two blogs and asked me some questions about my life.

Although I had seen some posts of it on Lynn's blog which I loved, I had no idea what it would all look like when completed and in my sweaty palms.

Imagine my surprise when I turned it over to find all of this on the back. Lynn had (just this past week) taken more pictures from my new blog and sewn them on the back, bringing it all up to date and 'rounding' it all off.
