How can it be true?

My nerves are jangled anew!

Crosstitch

I was scratching round in a drawer upstairs when I found some of my crosstitch pieces that I did many years ago. I would love to be able to do these again, but my eyes are just too bad now. They brought back many many hours of happy sewing....

Underground

I chose this drawing for the Monday Artday topic: undergound.

I was trying out my new pen and coloured inks.

We don't know exactly what is under the sea, or under the ground!

Happy Cactus Monday

When Senita looked in the mirror, she could see herself in her Easter bonnet.
After all, wasn't Spring just round the corner?

A Day in Snuffle's Life

As I have always said

"Let sleeping dogs lie."

Pull yourself together

After doing my drawing for Illustration Friday's topic , which I called 'multiple personality', I decided to paint me without all those confliciting 'voices' in my head.

It's called 'pull yourself together'!

I really like it, and the connection to this previous post:

Giggles #11

"Jake, don't ever fergit, this getting old ain't fer sissies!"
Woke up this morning with lotsa aches and pains, specially my lower back (which often gives me hell since my back operation 5 years ago). I will go off for a nice long walk, striding forth listening to my latest audio book on my pink ipod ('Bel Canto' by Ann Pratchett) with the lukewarm London sunshine in my eyes and the ache easing as I walk (it's the best thing for these aches and pains.)
Maybe it's the thought of being back at school tomorrow after a lovely half term week off that makes me ache !
Hope you all have a happy Sunday!

Giggles#9

I am so glad you are all enjoying reading my 'giggles'...as much as I am enjoying doing them.

My plan is to post one a day for a year!!! There, I just decided.....

"Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission."

Eleanor Roosevelt

I love pictures of cows. Let me explain.....

We were at the theatre many years ago, and the main character called his wife 'Moo'. When asked, 'Why do you call her Moo?' he answered, 'Well it's better than 'bloody cow' isn't it? This tickled Neil's funny bone and ever since I've been his 'Moo'. I even sign my art work 'Moo' (when I remember).

So I had to jump out of the car and take this photograph in Oz!

Two 'giggles' for the price of one today!!!

Book meme

Eeeeek, it's Thursday already, and my week of 'half-term' holiday is nearly over. I'm having such fun, blogging often, reading often, painting more than often, talking to my hubby often...and of course playing with Snuffles often.

I found Ronni's blog yesterday and am stealing her idea of a 'book meme' post.

So, here are the rules:

1.) Pick up the nearest book of (at least 123 pages).

2.) Open the book to page 123.

3.) Find the fifth sentence.

4.) Post the next three sentences.

5.) Tag five people.

I have just started reading 'Ma, he sold me for a few cigarettes' by Martha Long

"....Get back on the street where I found ye."

I put the coat on me, an it went down te me shoes. Then he lifted me by the neck, opened the door, an roared,'get back on the streets. An if I ever see ye aroun, ye're fuckin dead!"

Mmmm, interesting as we are possibly looking at a case of paternal abuse at school right now, which Bev is most concerned about. A message maybe?

I invite the following people to try their hand at this:

Debra
Mim
Lynn
Teri
Cris
What the hell, I invite all of you reading this post to have a go......

The intrepid diver returns.

" I wonder if this thermal undersuit really kept him warm...the water was 6 degrees celsius today!"

"What the hell are these?"

"Oh no, he's hung himself!!!"
"Phew, it's only the diving suit hanging up to dry.
Dry! In this weather? He's mad!"

"And what the hell are these?
Can I please have my garden back?"

Giggles#8

" I feel so much better now that I have accepted how awful I feel!"
(This is a special 'giggle' for all those out there with this awful flu, or who are just feeling 'under the weather' today.) Giggle and feel better.
(Debs, Mim, Lolo, Cris)

Declutter/deshmutter!

Came downstairs this morning, and although we had changed the whole sitting room round, decluttered and sorted the junk on the table (both being teachers, we always seem to need table space to use ad hoc), there before my eyes, was more clutter.

(another one of my abo art drawings I did while in Oz in december)

So today I say 'declutter/deshmutter' -I have more important things to do than tidying up!

Like:

1.)Go for a long walk before the rain comes back. We've had a balmy week here in London, not balmy warm, but balmy sunny. Also, I twisted my left ankle 2 weeks ago, and it still gives me twinges when coming down the stairs, and my left knee where I pulled the cartilage last year is playing up again, so need to walkmuch more and do some stretches.

2.) Fetch the dry cleaning, post some letters, walk the dog , go to the library, all can be done while I'm out.

3.) Paint some more 'giggles' pics.

4.) Start my new book, 'Ma, he sold me for a few cigarettes'. (a heart-rending memoir that will both horrify and inspire)

5.) Make some macaroni cheese for Neil for lunch as he's gone diving (it's our half term week, so we're off school till Monday).

Declutter/deshmutter is all I say!!!

Giggles#7

"Actually I'm 60, but my hair is only 2."

Declutter (dejunking)

While on the underground today going in to central London, Iwas reading an article about 'decluttering' in a 'freebie' magazine I found on the seat beside me.

'Too much stuff is like 'mental cholesterol' ...(wrote Michelle Passoff)
mmmmm ...............I thought.

'Our stuff surrounds us and distracts us from the real purposes of our lives.'
mmmmmm............I thought

'Lose the broken, the useless, and the things with negative associations.'

mmmmmm............I thought

So, as soon as I got home I went into a mad flurry of decluttering/ tidying/'losing' some of the things that are bungling up my sights, confusing my issues and mucking around with my state of mind.

mmmmm...............I thought, this does feel a bit better......

mmmmm...............I thought, tomorrow is another day......

mmmmm...................................................................................

Giggles #6: Getting ready

The topic this week for Monday Artday is 'getting ready'.
One of my 'giggles' drawings is perfect for it.

I think of them as stray eyebrows."

Adopt a baby gorilla

After seeing lolo's magnificent drawing for IF this week, I was searching through Google, and found this:http://www.gorillafund.org/

So I immediately adoted a baby gorilla, after reading about the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.

And I adopted one for you Lolo, cos of all the wonderful work you do with animals; and one for you Debs in memory of all those lovely snakes you lost last year.

Evidently orphaned babies are taken into care and looked after round the clock. If we can help one of these little sweetie pies, then I am happy.

Senita Giggle

Ever since I got this wonderful cactus from Steve (he no longer wanted it as his flat was too small and dark), and then discovered that teric not only loves cactuses but draws them every Monday, I have joined her in drawing Senita ( her name now) every week.
here she is making friends with all my birthday flowers that poured in a few weeks ago.

Today I've done a Senita 'giggle'.

"This will never work, you're from Venus, I'm from Mars!"

Happy Cactus Monday.

Awards

Lolo has given me, not one, but two awards.
This is such a great way to start my new blog.
Thanx, coming from you, these are an honour.
The first one is for loving and adoring animals and talking about my Snuffles so often- well that's an absolute pleasure for me, as she is everything to me.

This is one of my favourite pics of her (and I have hundreds). It is a jaunty rear view of her venturing out on a dewy morning.

The second award is to send loving energy and peaceful thoughts across the globe to wherever it's needed.

I am giving both these awards to all of my blogging friends:

Giggles #3

"When I suggested a hobby after we retired, I was thinking of gardening....'"

You've all been tagged.

This one's fun. Instead of tagging certain people, Bohemian Mom has invited everyone to consider themselves tagged, so I've accepted her invitation.

Here's the rules.....
There are five categories under which you have to link back to a previous post.
Go back through your archives and post the links to your five favourite blog posts that you have written...but there is a catch:

Link 1 must be about family.

Link 2 must be about friends.

Link 3 must be about yourself, who you are and what you're all about.

Link 4 must be about something you love.

Link 5 can be anything you choose.

I think this is a great way to circulate some of the older posts everyone has written, return to a few great places in our memories and also learn something about others that we may not know.

Please consider yourselves tagged and have some fun.
